Dr. von Haag obtained his medical degree from the University of California in Irvine after receiving a dual-bachelor’s degree in biology and zoology from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He completed his internship and residency at University of California Davis Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident of General Surgery. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He is Board- Certified by the
American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. von Haag was in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona prior to joining Carondelet Specialist Group, Inc. as Director of Cardiac Surgery for Arizona Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialists. His interests include modern and minimally invasive heart and lung surgery. He works collaboratively with his partners and patients to obtain the best possible outcomes.
Dr. von Haag’s professional activities include presentations and publications for surgery associations and societies, as well as organizing and instructing medical student educational sessions. His professional memberships include of The International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgery, American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
His personal interests include spending time with family, surfing, snowboarding, camping, hiking, riding motorcycles, reptiles and tropical fish.
